National Medicare Education Week – Start Learning

Perhaps one of the most daunting issues facing older members of the workforce today is Medicare enrollment. It’s no secret that this government-run healthcare program is confusing at best. And at worst, wrong decisions in the enrollment process can lead to life-long penalties. According to a U.S. Census Bureau report, nearly 10,000 baby boomers turn 65 each day. Which means close to 300,000 people become eligible for Medicare benefits every month. And in less than a decade, all boomers will have reached an eligible age. Furthermore, these numbers don’t include others who are eligible because of issues like ESRD. So, what does all this mean? Millions of U.S. citizens are in need of Medicare information every year. Fortunately, that’s why National Medicare Education Week exists.

What is National Medicare Education Week?

National Medicare Education Week is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a week dedicated to making Medicare education available to those who need it most. First organized in 2012 by UnitedHealthcare, this event runs from September 15-21 and shifts the spotlight onto a confusing topic. In doing so, it helps many individuals better understand how to navigate through the enrollment process and avoid costly mistakes.

So, whether you’re an HR professionals, caregiver, family member, or friend, this week is for you.
